Our Team

IMG_1135.jpg

Suzanne Coote, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my master’s of clinical social work degree with honors at The Ohio State University College of Social Work.  I have been in the field of social work and therapy since 1991.  Throughout my career, I have worked with victims of various traumatic events, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and childhood abuse.

I have also spent years working in the fields of home health and hospice, as well as providing support and psychotherapy to homeless individuals and those suffering from HIV/AIDS.  My diverse work experiences have allowed me to counsel individuals struggling with such issues as addiction, depression, anxiety, grief, and adjust to unexpected life events.  Despite my knowledge of various therapeutic techniques, I believe in using an approach that best fits the client and honors the resilience of an individual’s spirit, mind, and body.

During my free time, I enjoy life at the beach, traveling with my husband, playing with our 2 dogs, and designing leather handbags.  I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, as well as the Savannah Association of Social Workers.

I am Suzanne’s rescue dog who likes to provide support and love to her clients.  Although advancing in years and unable to hear, I still enjoy greeting clients with the wag of my tail. However, due to my semi-retired state, I may snore throughout your session!

If you have an allergy to pet hair, a fear of dogs, or an emotional support animal that travels with you, please contact Suzanne prior to your visit and I will spend the day at home.

Ruthie Duran Deffley, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia. I graduated from the University of Minnesota’s School of Social Work with a master’s degree in social work. I also have a second Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Humphrey School of Public of Affairs at the University of Minnesota. I have worked in the nonprofit and public sector for over 20 years, in both clinical and nonclinical settings.

As a psychotherapist, I have experience working with individuals, families, youth, and young adults in both English and Spanish. I integrate multiple treatment modalities that best support and empower my clients. I have experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, interpersonal conflicts, relationships, life transitions, and/or difficulty with acculturation.

I grew up in Mexico City and enjoy Savannah’s warmer climate. During the summer, I like to spend time at the beach with my kids. Once it cools down, my family and I enjoy spending time at one of Savannah’s beautiful parks or squares.
